This is your chance to make history and help shape the future of the Township’s newest community and sporting hub.
Submit a creative name that represents our community or a connection to Walkerville. It should be creative, short, sharp and punchy.
Council will select a shortlist from all entries – so get creative and send in your best idea!
The person who submits the winning name will receive a $500 gift voucher.
Eligibility guidelines
Council is looking for a name that has a connection to Town of Walkerville.
Participants can only make one submission into the YOU Name It! Competition.
Photo ID will be required from the winner.
All submissions should avoid being offensive or commercial.
Finalists will be chosen at the discretion of Council. The final shortlist of name submissions will be selected based on relevance, uniqueness and connection to Town of Walkerville.
The public will be able to vote on the final three names during the People’s Choice voting poll.
The YOU Name It! Competition will run from 9am on Monday, 24 March 2025 to 5pm on Tuesday, 22 April 2025.
Submitting your name suggestion
You can provide your name suggestions for the 39 Smith Street recreation centre in one of these ways:
- undertake the brief online survey below;
- complete a hard copy survey, which is available at the Civic & Community Centre;
- if a local resident, fill out the survey delivered to your letterbox and either post it back to Council or drop it into the consultation box at the Civic & Community Centre; or
- email your submission to walkerville@walkerville.sa.gov.au with the subject line "YOU Name It! Competition".
Please allow enough time for postage of your entry to arrive at our office by 5pm on Tuesday, 22 April 2025.
People’s Choice voting
Following the name submission, Councillors will consider all suggestions and put together a shortlist of recreation centre names.
The shortlist of names will be open to a People’s Choice vote!
The $10 million redevelopment is funded by Council contribution and a $5 million State Government grant. Council thanks the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing and Sport and State Member for Adelaide, Lucy Hood MP, for their support.
