Consultation has concluded

Town of Walkerville has released consultation to Vale Park residents in regard to investigations of 40km/h speed zones in the north area of Vale Park.

The Town of Walkerville has been working with the City of Port Adelaide Enfield (PAE) to investigate reducing the speed zone to 40km/h in Vale Park (Walkerville Council) and the neighbouring suburb of Klemzig (in PAE).

Typically, 40km/h speed zones are installed on local streets between main roads to indicate to motorists clear boundaries for a 40km/h area. However, in this case, the boundary between the two councils is Fife Street, which is not a main road and so does not provide the best location to introduce a 40km/h local area. Council is, therefore, proposing to collaborate with PAE and extend the 40km/h speed zone across the Vale Park boundary into Klemzig, up from Ascot Avenue.

What are we proposing for Vale Park?

We are proposing to:

  • Implement a 40km/h speed limit to part of Vale Park as bound by Fife Street, North East Road, Ascot Avenue and the River Torrens;
  • Install new traffic signs to indicate the speed zone change through the area; and
  • Implement 40km/h speed limits on eligible local roads throughout the Town of Walkerville (which is currently under consideration as part of the Council’s Transport Strategy planning).

Please see the attached document for a map of the designated area for more information.
