Walkerville Library held a survey, between 25 October 2022 to 16 November 2022, to assist in determining the best supports and services that the community needed from the library, including programs and events.

There were 326 participants in the Walkerville Library Survey, providing invaluable feedback to help Administration to understand what the community uses in the library and what they would like to see moving forward.

Overall, the survey found the community is satisfied with the current functions of the Walkerville Library, with 90% of respondents saying they were happy with the facility and its services.

Around 47% of respondents were satisfied with the staff, support and customer service they experienced, while 34% enjoyed the atmosphere and space at the Walkerville Library.

Of the reasons people enjoyed coming to the library, 87% said they were borrowing items, 25% said they enjoyed visiting the library to have a quiet space to relax, and 16% liked to explore and try new things.

The Walkerville Library also found out the frequency that community members visited the library. Of the respondents, 37% said they visited the library at least once a month, whereas 39% visited less than once a month.

Of people who used that website and apps of the Walkerville Library, 20% used these services at least once a month and 27% used these services less than once a month. However, a majority of people, at 29% didn’t using the online website and apps – preferring to visit in person.

During the survey, 33% of respondents highlighted they wanted improvements to the physical catalogue of books at the library. Some people also wanted improvements to the library accessibility – such as opening hours – and additional activities.

There was also a number of potential programs and ideas pitched by community members that will be considered in the future for the Walkerville Library.

Due to these responses, Council plans to further consult with the community to delve deeper into potential solutions.

Updates of changing services to the library will be provided later in 2023.
