Are you looking to showcase your work and take your artistic practice to the next level in 2026?

The Town of Walkerville invites artists to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for upcoming exhibition opportunities at the Theresa Walker Gallery, located within the Civic & Community Centre. Whether you’re a painter, photographer, or a textile artist — we are looking for passionate, innovative, and diverse creators to showcase their work in this open community space.

Who should apply?

Council welcomes EOIs from a broad range of exhibitors:

  • Emerging artists;
  • Solo artists;
  • Community groups;
  • Works on a collective project;
  • Children and adults.

Council is particularly interested in exhibitors who will showcase different creative mediums.

Artists will have an exhibition prepared or an exhibition concept ready for consideration at the time of EOI.

Artwork must be completely dry and appropriate in scale and form, be in good condition and comply with hanging standards.

Why submit an EOI?

This is a unique opportunity to register your interest, and be among the first considered for future curation in the Theresa Walker Gallery. While this EOI does not guarantee a future booking, it ensures you are on Council's radar as we prepare to introduce new artwork to the gallery space.

About Theresa Walker Gallery

Theresa Walker Gallery is named aptly after Theresa Walker (1807 – 1876), who is acknowledged as Australia’s first female sculptor and was married to Captain John Walker R.N. for who Walkerville is named.

This space is located adjacent to the Walkerville Town Hall and linked to the Foyer via a short hallway. This is used as a quiet space for people to set up on the desks and work or study.

Key information

  • EOI closes: 5pm on Monday, 16 February 2026
  • Next steps: Council will assess EOIs to guide future curation and be in contact early March

Artists must understand that artwork is displayed in a public space during opening hours and is also accessible to after-hours hirers.

Insurance of the artwork is the responsibility of the exhibitor. Artists must provide a certificate of currency or agree to sign a Waiver of Liability form.

Delivery, collection, installation and de-installation of all artwork is at the responsibility of the artists on the agreed dates.

There is limited wall space in the gallery and your preferred location and date will be made based on availability as well as other programming considerations (SALA).

Town of Walkerville will not accept administration or commission fees. All sales and enquiries will be the responsibility of the artist.
