Consultation has concluded

Council has reviewed its current Code of Practice – Access to Council Meetings and Documents (Code of Practice) to update the Code to allow for Council Members to participate in Committee Meetings and Informal Gatherings when a matter is to be considered/discussed in confidence if a Member is attending a meeting electronically or over the telephone. These changes are reflected in the draft Code of Practice, which is now open for community feedback.

The new Code of Practice Policy is based on the Local Government Association’s model Code of Practice Policy, which makes Committee Meetings and Informal Gatherings more accessible to Council Members during confidential matters.

The existing Code of Practice has also had minor amendments of a grammatical nature and to ensure it complies with current legislation and internal policies.

At the January Ordinary Meeting of Council, Council Members endorsed the draft Code of Practice for consultation. The full Council report can be viewed on the Town of Walkerville website.

The draft Code of Practice is open for consultation from 9am on Tuesday, 16 January 2024 and closes at 5pm on Monday, 5 February 2024.
