Consultation has concluded

A draft Casual Vacancies (Supplementary Elections) Policy - formerly called the Elections - Casual Vacancies Supplementary Elections Policy - is now open for community feedback, following a review to ensure the efficient allocation of Council resources in the event of a vacancy occurring.

The draft Policy reflects minor changes to ensure it complies with current legislation and internal policies.

Certain sections of the Policy have been amended or removed due to outdated Acts, Regulations or terminology that is referenced in the current Policy.

Part 2, 6 of the Local Government (Elections) Act 1999 stipulates that a Council must comply with the requirements of the Act when a vacancy occurs on Council.

At the September Ordinary Meeting of Council, Elected Members endorsed the draft Policy for consultation. The full Council report can be viewed on the Council website here.
