Draft Caretaker Policy

Council is required to review and adopt a Caretaker Policy to ensure compliance with the Local Government (Elections) Act 1999 (SA).

This policy provides guidance and restrictions on the types of decisions that can be made by the current Council that will affect the operating of the Council that will come into effect, after the election period has ended.

In light of the upcoming general elections, the Draft Caretaker Policy, has been developed to meet legislative requirements of section 91A of the Local Government (Elections) Act 1999 and related regulations.

The Caretaker Policy must commence at 12pm on 6 September 2022 and end at the conclusion of the election, when results have been declared to be compliant with Legislation.

The Draft Caretaker Policy is open for consultation from 11am on Tuesday 21 June 2022 to 5pm on Tuesday 12 July 2022.
